City leaders claim they are “balancing the needs of Boca Raton residents.” If that were true, why is Downtown Boca – already the most densely populated part of the city – being asked to absorb even more development?
East Boca averages 6,000 residents per square mile, double the density of West Boca’s 3,000 residents per square mile (see map). Yet the city continues to push major projects into the most crowded neighborhoods while leaving lower‑density areas untouched.
Other parts of the city are ignored when it comes to growth, planning, and infrastructure. In West Boca, residents are often forced to drive everywhere because services are not close enough to walk or bike and the public transit options are almost non-existent. Possible areas for development include land near Amtrak, Congress, Broken Sound and Clint Moore. There are others.
East Boca needs a break – and West Boca deserves more attention.
