The City Council is at a crossroads. While they have decided to hire consultants to plan Boca’s future, a critical question remains: Who will oversee that work?
We believe a Task Force is essential to ensure that the consultants' technical work aligns with our community's actual priorities. However, the strength of that Task Force depends entirely on how its members are selected.

Some council members may view recent election results or referendums as a broad mandate to make decisions about the future of Boca Raton. They are mistaken. The "Save Boca" vote was a clear vision of what residents did not want. To rebuild trust and inspire confidence, especially given recent narrow margins of victory, neutrality matters.
Some council members argue that hiring consultants makes a Task Force redundant. This is not true. They serve two different, vital roles:

We think it would be better to have a selection process independent of the Council. We propose an Independent Screening Panel that selects the task force members.
After over a year of fighting proposals that residents overwhelmingly disliked, distrust is high. To ensure we don't repeat the mistakes of the past, the selection of the new Task Force must be beyond reproach.
We are proposing an Option 4, but no matter what option is selected, we are calling for a process that guarantees:
The following table presents staff proposals (Options 1-3) and our proposed Option 4.
