A Neighborhood Built to Fail

City planners are touting the proposed 900 unit, mixeduse district as a walkable

neighborhood. However, close look at the street design tells a hugely different story.

With travel lanes narrowed to 10 feet – down from the alreadytight 11 feet – plus bicycle

lanes and street side parking, the neighborhood is on track to become impassible.

The design includes offices, shops, a hotel, and over 900 residences, yet no internal

service access is provided for trash pickup, deliveries, or emergency response. That

means every service – including garbage haulers, delivery vehicles, ambulances, and

fire trucks – must operate in the travel lanes.

Neighborhood Design Poised to Create Daily Gridlock

► A single trash truck can shut down the block

► An ambulance cannot pass a stopped vehicle

► Fire crews cannot reach the buildings they’re supposed to protect

► Residents, visitors, and businesses are trapped in a daily choke point of their own making

A records request confirms that the City has made no plans to address these

issues.
