City planners are touting the proposed 900 unit, mixeduse district as a walkable
neighborhood. However, close look at the street design tells a hugely different story.
With travel lanes narrowed to 10 feet – down from the alreadytight 11 feet – plus bicycle
lanes and street side parking, the neighborhood is on track to become impassible.
The design includes offices, shops, a hotel, and over 900 residences, yet no internal
service access is provided for trash pickup, deliveries, or emergency response. That
means every service – including garbage haulers, delivery vehicles, ambulances, and
fire trucks – must operate in the travel lanes.
A records request confirms that the City has made no plans to address these
issues.
